"Our Story"
A year ago, I wasn't supposed to be here.
At 73, I survived a totally unexpected and usually fatal aortic dissection — more than 12 hours of emergency surgery that doctors were skeptical I'd make it through. When I came out the other side, I made a decision, although I was already long retired and now somewhat a health risk, I just wasn't going to sit around and wait to leave this life. So here we are.
For many years, I have very much enjoyed gathering beautiful antiques and vintage treasures, originally intending them as a living inheritance for my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Over the years, my collection grew past the walls of my home and my husband's generous good will!
We decided, as a family, to share these treasures with our great Morgantown community and beyond, we purchased a dedicated 12x24' building, wired, insulated, finished the interior, added climate control and set up "Mom's Joy Room" right in our driveway. It's actually very nice. A bit small by store standards but plenty for most of our treasures and a few visitors at a time exploring.
Every piece inside has been curated with love. Most items (the work continues) feature an AI-researched valuation certificate detailing history, description and current market value. I invite you to visit, step onto our porch and welcome you in to explore the treasures inside. If you see something you love, let's friendly-negotiate a price that works and brings joy to both of us! I accept cash, check and PayPal.
This shop is still an inheritance for my family—just in a new, active form.
The shop was built with and for family — wired, paneled, painted, and signed by the people I love most. It's not just a business. It's a second act. A legacy. A joy room in every sense of the word.
Every piece here has a story. So does the woman selling it.
Welcome — I'm so glad you're here.

A Note to Our Customers
Mom's Joy Room is a curated antique and vintage retail store. — We're not a secondhand shop, a clearance sale or a resellers source. I'm a wee bit attached to some of these treasures that I've shared my home with for years and would love for them to have a soft landing in homes that value the item and and its history.
Nearly every item has been individually AI researched, with documented history, maker identification, and current market valuation prepared and available for your review. (I'm currently working on updated certificates) We believe informed buyers make the best collectors.
Our customers are people who appreciate craftsmanship, history, and the irreplaceable nature of things made in an eariler time. We curate for them — not the bargain hunter, not the dealer looking to double their money, but for the person who genuinely loves the treasures that came before us.
I negotiate price on our items fairly and honestly, based on documented research, personal investment and inventory volume, which is constantly changing. I ask that you bring that same respect to the table.
If there's a treasure that you've fallen in love with but it may be out of your budget, I will do my best to work with you and do all I can to make it happen. I don't want anyone leaving my shop broken hearted over a few dollars!..
Come visit and take a step into the past.

From a few clocks to a room full of joy
It all began with a fascination for unusual clocks, expanding over the years to embrace dolls, bears, toys, and countless other interesting finds. After retirement, I envisioned building something special to pass on to my children, grandchildren and great grand kids. A legacy born from passion. Several years later, the collection has a outgrown my home and my hubby's good will!

The journey of each treasure
My kids and grandkids suggested opening a store. So here we are! I researched and documented most of the collection, in an attempt to preserve the fascinating history behind most every piece. The interior details are done and approved. We're just waiting for the power company to turn the juice on! But with all the power outages lately, that might not happen this week? Hoping to officially open second week in July! For now, you can browse our brand new website to get a feel for some of the treasures we will be offering. Feel free to reach out with any questions if something catches your eye! And don't forget to leave us a comment on the comment page and share your thoughts with us. Each item at Mom's Joy Room, whether large or small, is a treasure, hand-selected for its intrinsic value, rich history, and undeniable beauty. Some pieces are so cherished they may never be up for sale, by me or my heirs, yet their beauty and stories are meant to be appreciated by all who visit. We believe in sharing these unique stories and aesthetic wonders with the world.
