A year and half ago, I suffered through and survived an aortic dissection medical event that included more than twelve hours of emergency open-heart surgery. An ordeal doctors warned family I might not make it through and recover from. God had other plans however, and after coming out the other side I knew I just wasn't going to sit around doing nothing. So here I am — mid 70's, a walking, breathing miracle, and starting a new business in faith! And to Almighty God goes all the credit and glory!
To give folks a little background, for many years, I had been collecting clocks, beautiful antique dolls, unique oddities and vintage treasures, originally intending them as a living inheritance for my children and grandchildren. I had no intention of selling anything. But the collection grew past the walls of our home and then past my husband's good will. We, the kids and grand kids suggested we just open a store instead. So, as a family, we decided to share these treasures with our Morgantown community and beyond. We secured a business license, purchased a building, wired and insulated, finished the interior, added carpets, climate control, and proceeded to set up "Mom's Joy Room" right in our own driveway.
It's actually pretty nice — a bit small by brick-and-mortar standards, but plenty of room for most of the treasures and a few visitors at a time. Several visitors have graciously complimented the layout and contents.
Every piece inside has been curated with love. Most items (and the work continues) feature an AI-researched valuation certificate detailing history, description, and value. These are available in store and also downloadable from this site. These are intended to educate you about the item that caught your eye. — they are NOT to set a purchase price. If you see something you are interested in, we can negotiate a price that works for both of us! I accept cash and check. I don't take cards however, if you have a PayPal account, you can always pay me through PayPal then pick up the item or I can ship to you.
This shop is still an inheritance for my family (if the Lord tarries) — it's just in a new, active form. It's a testimony of love, faith, trust and gratitude to the only One who gives life and purpose, and who — whether we realize it or admit it or not — holds each of our lives in His hands. It was built with and for family: wired, paneled, painted, and signed by the people I love most.
It's not just a business. It's a second act, a legacy — a joy room in every sense of the word.
Every piece here has a story. So does the woman selling it.

A Note to Our Customers
Mom's Joy Room is a curated antique and vintage retail store. A lovely vintage/antique gift shop! — We're not a yard sale, thrift store or a secondhand bin. I've put a ton of expense and work into this last chapter and I'm actually a wee bit attached to some of these treasures. I want them to have a soft landing in homes with people that value them. If that's not an option, they can stay right here with me.
If something has caught your eye, I will negotiate price with you , taking into consideration current market value, my own investment but most importantly, your interest and appreciation or lack of.
If there's a treasure that you've fallen in love with but think it's out of your budget, let's talk . I don't want anyone leaving my shop with a broken heart over being a few bucks short!!..
